Miska Clay Bibbs is a native Memphian that has served on the M-SCS School Board since 2014 and for the last two years as Chair of the Board (2019-2021).

  • Her community development experience started when she accepted her first role in the congressional office working for Harold Ford, Jr right after her graduation from Hampton University. This position began her 25+ year career in education and community development advocacy.

  • She has served in several senior leadership roles at educational non-profits in Memphis as well as served on local nonprofit boards - Dress for Success Memphis, Girls Inc., and New Memphis Fellows Advisory Board. 


Miska Clay Bibbs has proven to be a voice for the community she serves. Her leadership during the pandemic ensured that the concerns of parents were heard.

  • Ensured the district maintained its remote school learning during the height of the pandemic

  • Pushed back on state efforts to force students to return to class during the pandemic

  • Ensured M-SCS resources targeted critical needs during the pandemic

  • Provided thousands of meals to students and families during the pandemic


  • Miska Clay Bibbs is always focused on outcomes that directly impact the community she serves.

  • - Delivered on her promise for more capital investments in her district which resulted in 2 new builds and additional capital improvements at schools – The New Alcy Elementary, Parkway Village Elementary School, and Oakhaven school branding updates.

  • Ensured major investments in M-SCS College Career and Technology Program (CCTE) to position our students for high-paying careers.

  • Ensured every student received a NEW laptop during the onset of Covid-19 along with access to free internet services.
